RIP: Nelson Mandela

6a00d8341c2ca253ef019b023460fc970c-550wiNelson Rolihlahla Mandela died on December 5. It’s said his given name, Rolihlahla, means “troublemaker.” Looks like he was destined to follow in the footsteps of that other humanistic troublemaker Frederick Douglass: “Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground,” the abolitionist once said. Sounds like something the father of South Africa would agree with.

Here is trumpeter Hugh Masekela playing “Bring Him Back Home (Nelson Mandela).”
